Daily Crime and Fire Log (DCFL)

The purpose of the daily crime and fire log is to record all criminal incidents and alleged criminal incidents that are reported to the UC Merced Police Department. In addition, the log contains information for any fire that occurs in the student housing facilities.

The UCMPD retains logs for seven calendar years. If you would like logs going back further than the provided 60 days or if its web page is not working properly, please send an email to clery@ucmerced.edu, call our 24/7 operating center at 209-228-2677, or request a copy at our front desk. Allow up to three business days for requests of historical daily crime and fire logs.

The following is an explanation of the terminology used to complete the Disposition section of the UCMPD Daily Crime and Fire Log

CASE "DISPOSITION"

DEFINITION

"Pending" This disposition is used to denote cases that are active. This disposition applies when a case requires additional follow-up or requires some action to be taken by the officer or detective. This disposition is used for both criminal and non-criminal matters (e.g. missing person cases).
"Unfounded" This disposition is used if a reported crime is investigated by sworn law enforcement personnel and found to be false or baseless.
"Information Only" This disposition is used when a police report is taken for documentation purposes. This disposition applies when the facts of an incident do not meet the elements of a crime. This disposition should be used only after the officer or detective has completed all casework and follow-up.
"Cleared by Exception" This disposition occurs when a circumstance outside the control of law enforcement prohibits UCMPD from arresting, charging and prosecuting the offender.
"Disciplinary Referral" This disposition designates a case that has been referred to another UCM department for action under their own policies and procedures.
"Cleared by Arrest" This disposition is used when an officer has made an arrest in a case.
"Referred to other Agency" This disposition is used when a different agency has legal jurisdiction over the location of which the incident occurred.
"Report Taken" This disposition could be used when an officer creates a Case Number for an incident.

According to Federal Law, UCMPD may withhold any of the required fields of entry, i.e. the nature, date, time, location and/or disposition if any of the following conditions apply:

  • If disclosure would jeopardize the confidentiality of the victim.
